Vice-Governor of Primorsky Krai Eugene Polyanskiy held a bilateral meeting with Vice-Governor of the Japanese Prefecture of Hokkaido, Tsuji Yasuhiro. The parties discussed prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation. Welcoming the guests, Eugene Polyansky noted that the interaction vector of Primorsky region with Japanese colleagues on many issues has already been identified. The businessmen from the Country of the rising sun are mostly interested in medicine. "A few years ago a diagnostic center was opened in Primorye. Now agreement with JGC Corporation is reached to construct a large rehabilitation medical center. We are pleased that Japanese investors shows such interest in our healthcare, as Japanese medicine is one of the most developed in the world," said the Vice-Governor of the province. According to the Deputy head of the Primorye, the regional market is interested in the production of ecologically clean products, and Japanese investors are ready to share their experience with Primorians. "We are ready to give you areas for production; with your help to adapt our technology to obtain, as a result, products of high ecological purity. Today several agreements have been reached, we expect large-scale projects from Japanese colleagues and are ready to provide maximum support to investors in implementing them ", – said Eugene Polyansky. Vice-Governor of Hokkaido, Tsuji Yasuhiro pointed out that the Japanese side intends to develop cooperation in the field of tourism. According to him, especially attractive are ski resorts of Hokkaido.
"We are interested in the tourist exchanges. Hokkaido is the closest neighbor of the Primorsky territory, and we have many places where the tourists from the region could relax, especially in the winter season," he said. The parties also agreed on cooperation in the fields of culture and sports – fields which are interesting not only to business but to all residents of Primorye and Hokkaido. It should be noted that at the end of last year, the Governor made an official visit to the Country of the rising sun, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations with the Tottori Prefecture.
As the meetings results there was signed a number of important agreements. Large business and official structures confirmed their interest in investing in the nearest Russian region. According to Vladimir Miklushevsky, first and foremost t Russian-Japanese relationships need to be developed at the interregional level. "We aim to support the development of relations with Japan in all areas, and primarily at the regional level. Primorsky Krai actively cooperates with six Japanese prefectures, and we intend to intensify relations with the Eastern partners", – said the head of Primorye.
